Congressman Questioned About Nursing Home Spending
Connecticut Representative Joe Courtney (D-2nd Dist.) met with constituents last night and took numerous questions about whether the recently signed “economic stimulus” law would help struggling nursing homes. “That’s something that’s decided in Hartford,” Courtney said, responding to concerns about the possible closing of the Griswold Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, the only nursing home in Griswold. Courtney told the crowd that while the federal government allocated another $1.3 billion in Medicaid assistance to Connecticut over two years, nursing-home reimbursements are handled by state government.
